Jade Pimenta Doce

Jade Pimenta Doce is part of the amazing and gorgeous Cremoso collection release this spring (2013).

Jade Pimenta Doce. Just. Wow. This is my Christmas mani. It is, by far, the most gorgeous red creme ever created in the entire universe. I am sure I have this shade of red in other brands. Positive, even. But the formula, the crelly finish and the amazing application of this color is just amazeballs. This is a polish every single woman who likes to wear red should have in their collection. So, yeah. I like this polish :D Plus the fact that it wears so well and stays shiny so long is why I picked it for my Christmas mani. I'm going to be out of town until Sunday, so I need something that will stay looking amazing for almost a week! This polish can do it.
Merry Christmas! <3

OPI The Spy Who Loved Me

OPI The Spy Who Loved Me was released Skyfall collection last holiday season (2012).

OPI The Spy Who Loved Me is a gorgeous bright cherry red loaded with golden shimmer. It is the perfect Christmas red polish I think. It's just everything I would imagine for a sparkly Christmas look. The shimmer is less noticeable without light hitting it but still shows up. It's just not quite as stunning and sparkly. I really love this polish. I'll have it out again for Valentine's Day for sure. 5 more days!! I am SO excited. Part of it could be the Coach box under the tree for me. I have the best husband. Merry (almost) Christmas!

OPI Red Lights Ahead...Where?

OPI Red Lights Ahead...Where? was part of the Holland collection released in the spring of 2012

OPI Red Lights Ahead...Where is an orange based red that's not exactly Christmas red but I love it and it is red so, whatevs! It's actually a very bright coral red creme that's probably best for summer. And toes! But I never follow the rules of seasonal nail polish. It's too much constraint. I just wear what I like when I like. Isn't life better when you relax a little and just enjoy?
Happy Birthday tomorrow Dad!! <3

Hard Candy Lava

Hard Candy Lava is so old! I think it was from the winter of 2009.

Hard Candy Lava is a bright red shimmer with orangey-gold shimmer. It's almost a metallic, but too shiny. The Hard Candy brand is a fun brand and I've loved it a long while. They've changed the packaging and revamped the polish and to be honest, I haven't bought a single one. I just don't love the new look and there's nothing in the collection that made me feel the need to own. I guess I'll just keep loving my oldies!

Zoya Blair

Zoya Blair is part of the Pulse And Vibe collection released in the fall of 2008.

Zoya Blair is a blackened red that is kind of purpley with a gorgeous but subtle shimmer. It's another holiday looking shade I really love to wear. The formula on Blair is a little runny but it didn't flood my cuticles or cause any application trouble. It also wears just lovely. No chips for the duration. I have found the perfect combinations of base and top coats for all my favorite brands and hardly ever get any chips.
I've pretty much decided to just continue with the reds and Christmas color mani's for the rest of the year. It's the perfect excuse to wear red, red and more red. Love it!!
Happy Birthday to my sister Cathy tomorrow!! <3

China Glaze Cranberry Flame with Peace On Earth

China Glaze Cranberry Flame is from the 2005 Urban Chic collection and China Glaze Peace On Earth was released in 2010 in the 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice collection.

China Glaze Cranberry Flame is one I've had for ages! It's great for the holiday season though. I seem to always wear it at least once during Thanksgiving to Christmas time.
It's exactly as you'd expect from the name. Deep shimmery red with a nice shine to it. It has a nice formula, covers well and wears several days for me without chips. I find this to be the norm for me with China Glaze. I usually wear polish 3 days and end up taking it off before I have chips.
China Glaze Peace On Earth is also an older polish and from a holiday collection. I don't wear this one a lot but it's good for Christmas and St. Patrick's day. It's a pretty olive green with golden shimmer. So pretty!

Sally Hansen Emerald Express

Sally Hansen Emerald Express is from the Insti-Dri line.

Sally Hansen Emerald Express is a forest green with silvery shimmer. It's a one coat polish if you're careful. It wears really well also. It's a little thick so I had to be extra careful but I got away with one coat. And as the name says it dries fast. It looks a little streaky in the pictures but wasn't streaky looking at all in real life. I think this is really good for a Christmas green. Very much in the Christmas spirit in our house! I love this time of year.

Zoya Asia

Zoya Asia is from the Pulse and Vibe collection from 2008

Zoya Asia is a a deep red creme. It's not a true red, more of a red with a little brown? I'm not sure. It's pretty and I like it. That's what matters :D Application was great and so was the wear time. It's typical for Zoya. I don't think I have met one I didn't love!

Zoya Elisa

Zoya Elisa is from the fall 2012 Diva collection, but it's the perfect Christmas red for me!

Zoya Elisa is a vibrant red with a gorgeous glowing shimmer. It's absolutely perfect for the first day of the Christmas season. I love reds like this. OPI Danke-Shiny Red is pretty much a dead ringer dupe for this. I don't mind, I have enough room in my collection for two reds this fabulously gorgeous! Application was perfect and wear has been perfect also. This is two coats with Zoya Anchor and Zoya Armor. For top coat I always use QD Poshe. Let the Christmas season begin!!

OPI Lost On Lombard

OPI Lost On Lombard is part of the San Francisco Collection released in fall 2013.

OPI Lost On Lombard is a dark red creme that's kind of brown based. It's maybe what I'd consider a brick red. I wasn't sure I was going to like this as I was applying it, but as it dried I fell head over heels in love. And, as I hoped, it matched the sweater I wore today perfectly. It was kind of thick and a little tricky to apply. Clean up was necessary, and not the easiest for sure. I think before I wear this again I'll add some thinner. I think that will solve the application issues I had.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Ulta Salsa

Ulta Salsa is a polish I picked up a few years ago. I don't know if Ulta does collections or not. I'm not super familiar with their brand or the release policies. I have to say though, I think their polish is really nice.

Ulta Salsa is a cranberry red with silver shimmer. I bought this two years ago when I was looking for the perfect cranberry shade of red to wear for Thanksgiving. It's about time I finally wore it! It's a great color for fall and for Thanksgiving. I really do like it. The formula was just perfect. I can't comment on the wear time because I know I'm changing polish for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Pretty color.

Happy birthday to my Mom today. I hope she's having a wonderful day <3

China Glaze Blue Year's Eve

China Glaze Blue Year's Eve is from the 2011 Let It Snow holiday collection.

China Glaze Blue Year's Eve is a medium blue jelly base with blue glass fleck shimmer. Oh my heck do I love glass fleck polish. I mean LOVE. It's so pretty and sparkly without being completely in your face glitter. Glass fleck is for me, yes sir! This blue is very Christmas-like. I can see Christmastime when I look at this. Is yummy. I'm just loving wearing blue polish and have decided I no longer think I can't wear blues. In fact, I think this will be the last time I even mention it in my diary haha! I am convinced and converted. Blue polish is wonderful.

Color Club Charity Ball and China Glaze Boo-Gie Down

Color Club Charity Ball is part of the Rebel Debutante collection from the spring of 2010. China Glaze Boo-Gie Down was released this Halloween in the Monster's Ball collection.

Color Club Charity Ball is a red based brown creme. I don't think I really like this shade of brown. I have a few of them and every time I wear them I'm like ehh. It's shiny and pretty and all, it's just not my thing. As for application and wear, though, I have to say it was really good on both counts. No complaints on this polish formula. It's great. Just not in love with the color. This might go into my purge box.
For the accent nail I thought China Glaze Boo-Gie Down would look nice. I was right! It really goes well with the color. The gold hex and micro glitter really pops, as does the white! I had to thin it before I could use it. I applied it to my accent nail and it just destroyed the semi dry nail so I had to totally re-do the nail. Frustrating! I think I just got a bad bottle though. I noticed on the outside of the bottle the polish looked like it had leaked a little but wasn't shiny. Not sure when it happened but it was before I bought it. Once I added some thinner it applied perfectly. This might also be why I am not loving Charity Ball. Maybe I'm just having hard feelings cause the mani got messed up haha. In the end, I think this looks really good for fall.

Zoya Tomoko

Zoya Tomoko is from the Pixie Dust collection released this fall.

Zoya Tomoko is described as a champagne silver on their website, but on me it looked gold. Pure gold. I like it though. I picked it thinking it was going to be more silvery an in most pictures I've since looked up it's more silvery on most than me. It's probably due to skin tone. At any rate this Pixie Dust is amazing and gorgeous. They wear so well. I ended up taking this off before I ever got any tip wear after 3 days. That's pretty amazing to me. It gets smoother as you wear it but I never got a single chip. Way to go Zoya. I love the Pixie Dust polishes. I haven't had any issues with them and they've all worn wonderfully. Application has been a breeze too. This will be perfect for Christmas time so I'll definitely be wearing it again in December close to Christmas.

Zoya Dovima

Zoya Dovima was originally released in the summer of 2009, but has just been re-issued. Thank goodness, because I did not get this when it was originally released. I am so happy to have this to add to my Velvet Matte collection. Now I just need Harlow and I'll have them all. When will you re-issue Harlow, Zoya??

Since today is the opening for Catching Fire I decided to do an accent nail of fire, of course :) The flame isn't translating to the picture how good I think it looks, Darn camera. I really like it.

And of course...the mockingjay pin!

For the flame I used Zoya America then added some Zoya Arizona. For the glitter I used China Glaze Electrify from the collection released with the first Hunger Games movie.

I did a mani for the premier of Hunger Games as well.

Can't wait for tonight. DH bought these tickets as soon as they came available. It's going to be so good. Team Peeta FTW!!!

China Glaze Shower Together

China Glaze Shower Together was part of 2008 ecollection.

China Glaze Shower Together is a medium turquoise blue creme. I am really loving the blues lately :D  bought all these blues then decided they don't look good with my skin tone and they just sat for ages. I'm glad I decided to go through my collection and purge. This was in my purge box and on a whim I decided to try it out. SO glad I did. I love it! It's gorgeous. Needless to say, it's not going anywhere. It's a keeper.

Nicole by OPI Just Busta Mauve

Nicole by OPI Just Busta Mauve is a Target exclusive released in the fall of 2012.

Nicole by OPI Just Busta Mauve. Woah. I mean just wow. This is so cool! It's a pinky bronze foil base with flecks of eleventy billion colors and a green duochrome flash. That is a lot to get into one polish and Just Busta Mauve did it. I love wearing this color. It's flashy and sparkly but still classy looking. It goes right to my limit of flashy-ness without going over. I don't own a lot of NOPI (read 2), but this one really got me. It's not that I dislike NOPI at all. I just have so much OPI and probably have most of the colors offered by NOPI. This one though, unique. Love!!!

OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow

OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow was released in 2009 in the Coleccion de Espana collection.

OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow is an almost blackened green creme. This is a super dark green! It didn't really look green at all, more black. I don't mind, I like dark shades a lot. They're super sexy. I ended up filing my nails shorter though after I took these pictures. For me, shorter nails are better when the shade is this dark.
HTAT is really sheer. In fact the formula is unique. It's almost see through, and took 3 coats to become mostly opaque. Enough so for me anyway. It didn't really cover great when I wrapped my nails, so it looked like I had tip wear. I only wore this for a day, and filed as soon as it was dry, so I can't say anything about wear time.
All that said I do like this one and I'll wear it again for sure.

China Glaze Phat Santa

China Glaze Phat Santa is from the 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty and Nice cllection from holiday 2010.

China Glaze Phat Santa is deep red gorgeous creme. This color! Every time I wear this I just stare at my nails. Sounds so vain, but the color is just that striking. It's super shiny like a jelly but the pigment is intense like a creme. Best of both my favorites! Yay *\o/*

This mani is dedicated to you D. You loved red nails so much. I miss you...

China Glaze Frostbite

China Glaze Frostbite is from the winter 2007 Ski collection.

China Glaze Frostbite is a bright electric blue with silver shimmer. This. Is. Bright. It's a pretty color and it looks pretty good with my skin tone. All this time I thought I could never wear blue and I finally try them in my collection and find out otherwise :D Love this color! So glad I finally wore it.

Color Club Oh Naturale

Color Club Oh Naturale is from the Spring 2010 Pardon My French collection.

Color Club Oh Naturale is a coral orange creme. The formula on this was really great. The first coat was a little sheer but it built up perfectly with the second coat. This is such a soft shade. I think it's just lovely. I got this from Ross in their funny collections they sell, so I had to make my own label.

China Glaze Icicle

China Glaze Icicle is from the 2011 Let It Snow holiday collection.

China Glaze Icicle is a gorgeous silver foil. I love how this looks a little textured. It's super fun to wear and I got several compliments on it. It applies really easily and wore forever before it chipped.

Monday, November 11, 2013

Zoya Mieko

Zoya Mieko was released in 2008 in the Fourish holiday collection.

Zoya Mieko is a deepy rosy pink with gorgeous golden shimmer. So pretty! It looks more like summer to me than holiday but heck! I don't follow the color/season rules anyway, so I don't know why I even commented on that :D It's a glass fleck kinda polish and I'm a glass fleck kinda gurl. That is all.

China Glaze Champagne Bubbles

China Glaze Champagne Bubbles was released in the 2011 Let It Snow holiday collection.

China Glaze Champagne Bubbles...Just no. This is so NOT my thing. I think I bought this because I just had to have the whole Christmas collection. It's going in my purge box. I'm sure there are plenty of darker, maybe olive skin tones this would look so good on. My pale skin is total no good. I thought I was going to love the shimmery gold with the little silver glitter but I just can't love it :(

Zoya Savita

Matte is big again this fall. No complaints here, I adore mattes. Well, the shimmery matte more so than the flat matte.

Zoya Savita was released in the winter 2009 Matte collection. It's been discontinued, sadly. It is what Zoya calls matte velvet and it's gorgeous. It's an eggplant purple with silvery shimmer. I LOVE Zoya velvet finish. It makes me so happy when I wear them. I only have three of them and I'd love to own the other three. Hopefully some day I will. When I wear these I do my usual basecoat and treatment then a coat of SV to dry it all. Then I do two coats of the Zoya matte. It takes longer to chip this way. You can just skip the base coat and wear the polish alone if you prefer, but I don't put color on my bare nails ever.

Edited to add OMG Zoya just announced they're going to re-relese the Mattes!!!!! You can pre-order them tomorrow 11-08-2013 online only here.
