Orly Rock-It

Orly is a brand I've used for a long time. I'm not sure it gets the love it deserves. I always have good luck with Orly. I should probably buy more :D

Orly Rock-It is from the amazing Mineral FX collection released back in the fall of 2011. It's the perfect shade for fall and I really like this one. The formula for me was a little thinner than I prefer and I ended up having one nail pool at the cuticle. Since it's so saturated with color it ended up staining that cuticle a little. It didn't stain for long and wasn't really a bother to me. I almost never get chipping with Orly. Another reason I like the brand!

Jade Realeza

Jade nail polish is a favorite of mine for a good while now. My first introduction to Jade was the result of a trade with a really nice Brazillian girl I met in a group on FaceBook. Since them I've bought them from a couple of e-tailers and just love the formula and lasting wear time they offer.

Jade Realeza, released summer 2013, is a berry pink jelly with holographic glitter. It's amazing indoors but outside it where it literally shines. I wore this to the state fair this past weekend and could not stop staring at the sparkle :D It was perfect for a day spent outdoors. The formula was perfect and I had absolutely no chips on this for the 3 days I wore it. I love pink shades like this! because of the jelly base I ended up doing three coats to get it mostly opaque. I did two coats of top coat to get it smooth.

Color Club In Bloom for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day in September? Yep. I just found these pictures. I totally forgot to post them, so instead of not blogging this mani, I decided what the heck? Why not just post it in September :D

My Valentine's Day mani was so fun. I can't believe I forgot to post it. In my defense we were just gearing up to do a huge renovation to our home.
For this mani I used the following:
Color Club In Bloom for the main color on all nails.
Thumb: Konad Red stamping polish for the stamped hearts (Luckily the smear wasn't as noticeable as it is in the picture).
Index: China Glaze Spontaneous for the dots.
Middle: OPI Pirouette My Whistle over Color Club In Bloom
Ring: Konad Red stamping polish for the stamped hearts, Color Club in Bloom and Zoya Purity for the dots.
Pinky: China Glaze Millenium stamped for the tiara
I really loved this mani and wore it all weekend. I got several compliments too. Stamping is fun I should do it more often!

China Glaze Bump & Grind

Texture polish is one of the most fun trends in nail polish for me. I just love it tons. It's so different from anything we've seen in so long. Here's my latest texture mani.

China Glaze Bump & Grind was released in the summer 2013 Texture collection. I bought the whole collection :D Gotta catch 'em all, right? Bump & Grind is a pink fuchsia creme with texture. There's no glitter in this one. I wasn't sure how I'd like a creme texture but for sure I am loving them as much as the glittery. It's all just fun and I enjoy wearing texture so much. Application was easy and this is two coats with no top coat. Gorgeous color!

Jade Dama Da Noite

Jade is a brand of polish from Brazil. I was lucky enough to trade with a kind girl there and got a TON of polish. We had such a great time doing that trade we're currently doing another. I love trading! Speaking of trading..I have a large trade list right here that I'd love to shorten.

And now Jade Dama Da Noite:

Jade Dama de Noite is a berry red creme and was released in the spring 2013 Cremoso collection. This collection is really crelly to me. They are very shiny, slightly squishy looking and just beautiful. I love Jade polish. I have around 25 bottles of it and I have yet to have one not apply perfect and wear like armor.
Jade can be purchased from Color 4 Nails and Llarowe

OPI Black Cherry Chutney

OPI Black Cherry Chutney is the perfect vampy polish for fall!

OPI Black Cherry Chutney is from the spring 2008 India collection. Black Cherry Chutney is a blackened purple with purple shimmer. It's so gorgeous. I cannot stop looking at my hands when I wear this. It's perfect for when my nails are shorter too. It applied perfectly and wears great. This is two coats with top coat.

Bliss Kiss Pure Oil

I've read a lot about Bliss Kiss Pure Oil and finally decided to try it out for myself. Here is some info about Bliss Kiss and what helped me decide to try it out. I was not looking forward to three days without polish. I was pretty concerned about breaking my nails since they were going to be so vulnerable without polish, so I filed them shorter. I have used NailTek II for so many years I can't remember not using it. I know that any time I stop using it I get peeling. Also, I think my nails are more brittle because of the NailTek II but I'm convinved it DOES help me them grow longer. I've been studying about this type of nail strengthening and the fact that your nails actually break easier. They also contain formaldehyde. Which isn't good for me. This is the reason I started looking for an alternate way to strengthen.
I followed the 3 day hydration treatment instructions and applied every time the oil absorbed and after water.

I did not break a single nail the entire three days. I was super relieved! I am a little insecure about my nakie nails because I don't think they're very pretty. Especially my middle nail. The skin grows so far out to the edge and it's not even. Weirdo finger :D
I had a deep/big spot of peeling on my index nail (top of picture). My middle finger had a pretty good hangnail/cuticle issue. This plagues me. I don't know why it's such a weird finger but I can't vote it off the island. I need it!
After just one day I could already see a difference in the free edge of my nails. The index nail peel is beginning to repair. They are whiter, which I think means the layers are already bonding together and getting stronger.
By day two I am sincerely impressed. My nails look good! The peel in the index finger is almost healed and the middle finger cuticle looks pretty dang good!
Day three I am convinced I will have Bliss Kiss Oil in my life for as long as it's available. The peel is gone. My cuticles are pretty much perfect. The free edge is white and my middle nail looks less uneven. It's still not perfect, may never be, but the skin under the nail is less tight and doesn't come all the way to the edge. The more I use the oil the better my nails and cuticles look and feel. I have continued applying it several times a day and over my polish.
I want to mention the pen that came with my starter kit. I love this pen. It reminds me of a lip gloss pen with the bristles and the clicking part to add more oil. It's the perfect applicator! I adore it. I'll be ordering more so I can have one in my purse and in other places in my home.
Bliss Kiss Pure Oil is available on their website here and on Amazon. I would easily recommend it to anyone interested in strengthening their nails and improving nail growth and cuticle health.

OPI Suzi Has A Swede Tooth with OPI My Voice Is A Little Norse

I filed my nails short so I can start the Bliss Kiss three day hydration treatment without too much worry about breaking them while they're unpolished. Hopefully it's worth it!!

I bought this while shopping with my BFF Amy. We both got it actually as well as the accent polish. We went on a nail polish shopping binge!!! I'm not sure how many polishes she ended up getting but it was over 30 :D Yay *\o/* That was her biggest haul so far. We're both on a NO BUY now, boo!!!

OPI Suzi Has A Swede Tooth, from the Nordic collection just released this month, is a barbie pink creme. It's super pretty! I love pink so this is a complete winner for me. This is two coats with top coat. It applied like the beauty it is.

OPI My Voice is a Little Norse, also from the Nordic collection is gorgeous holographic micro glitter. I love micro glitter though I rarely do an entire glitter mani. These are perfect for my accent nail. It applied smooth and easy. This is one coat over Suzi Has A Swede Tooth with two coats top coat to ensure it was smooth.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Halloween 2014

Normally I wouldn't try on an entire collection in one day. I would swatch them on swatch rings and add them to my spreadsheet. I knew I was going to do the Bliss Kiss hydration for three days starting this evening I decided to go for it because I just couldn't wait to see them on!

Wet N Wild Ghouls Rush In is a berry pink creme with a near jelly finish. A crelly! It's super shiny and so pretty. I adore this type of pink. I have so many and keep buying more. Gorgeous. It applied well. This is two coats with top coat.

Wet N Wild Goosebump Suit is a Bright medium orange with a crelly finish. Super shiny and slightly squishy looking. It applied easily. This is two coats with top coat.

Wet N Wild Queen Of Envy. What a great name. When I saw the name I immediately thought of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind saying: "I want eveyone who's been mean to me to be pea green with envy." :D Queen Of Envy is another crelly. It applied nicely though with three coats it's still not opaque. I still have visable nail line. Might be one to use underwear with if the VNL is bothersome. This is three coats with top coat.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Roach Busters. Like Ghost Busters maybe? Roach Busters is a light green with silvery shimmer. I quite like this one. I don't know when I'll wear it but nonetheless it's pretty. This is two coats with top coat.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Witch Black. Oh my grits n gravy this is gorgeous. I love a vampy color any day and when it's this shiny...omgosh...I die a little. Witch Black is a black creme that is so shiny! It applied easy. This is two coats with top coat.

There's also a glow in the dark green but I gave up trying to get a good picture of glow in the dark polish a long time ago. I didn't really need another glow in the dark, but what the heck for $1.99

This collection is adorable and I love displaying the little tombstones on my shelf of unique polish bottles in my Princess Room.

Back from hiatus

I've been away from my blog; but not nail polish, for several months. DH and I have been working on a home renovation since March and I just didn't have time to take pictures and blog each mani. Also, I filed my nails really short during that time so I wouldn't have breaks or damage from all the drywall, paint, water, caulk, etc that are involved in basically destroying your living room, dining room and kitchen then rebuilding them :D
I thought I'd add this to my diary since it was part of my nail polish journey if only a detour from my blogging for a few months.
This is our living room that we started with:

Pretty ordinary. And ugly. We hated that fireplace. You can't really see the old dingy popcorn ceiling but it's another thing we hated about this house when we bought it. We didn't like the carpet either. Or the paint color.... We started in March....
So we tore out the fireplace and redid the paint, added crown moulding, tore out the carpet and added hard wood, bought new furniture, new ceiling fan, added wood blinds. Basically we redid the whole dang thing.
For reference, here's a picture of the remodel of the living room about mid way. The carpet is gone, the fireplace is demolished, the popcorn ceiling is half scraped:

Here's how it ended up:
There's a doggy hiding....

See the doggy hiding again? That's Mia

Mia says Hi! :D

We finished in July!
And then we went to New York for a week and got away from dust and construction. It was good to finally be done and enjoy our hard work.
We've had company since we finished as well. We've really had a busy summer! It's been a lot of fun showing our family our "little" project.

Back to nail polish tomorrow!
